Howell Mountain is Napa Valley's first Sub AVA, and home to some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the world. It's also loaded with hidden gems. Hidden in Napa? Howell Mountain has never been a popular tourist destination, especially in relation to other AVA's like Oakville, Rutherford and Yountville. In fact, many people drive right through Howell Mountain without noticing the vineyards, and most tours don't venture that far up the Silverado trail. It's a shame because Howell Mountain is known for some of the biggest, boldest, mouth-filling Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa. Its home to places like Outpost and Black Sears. Big name wines like Cade, Dunn, Robert Foley and O’Shaughnessy.
