Jean-Marc and his wife Christine own about 19 hectares of vine: 13 in Morgon, complemented by another five hectares of Beaujolais Villages, and another in Regnie. Though not certified, he has not used chemicals in the vineyard for over a decade, the vines planted high density in order to enhance fruit concentration, and he usually picks later than many other growers. The wines are raised in concrete vats, although the Cote du Py see partial barrel aging. Like Jean-Paul Brun, stylistically they lean toward Burgundy, more serious Beaujolais that will reward cellaring.
"The 2020 Morgon Côte du Py is one of the region's most dependable classics, unfurling in the glass with notes of cassis, sweet berry fruit, spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a seamless, complete profile, it concludes with a long, mouthwatering finish." The Wine Advocate, 94 Points
