Bernard Fontannaz is on a mission to create Grand Cru style wines in Argentina. His Finca La Anita Grand Corte is a big step up in class, sourced exclusively from their 72 hectare, single vineyard estate in Alto Agrelo. Not only is this the best place to make Malbec, but this vineyard was the first to produce premium wines from Lujan de Cuyo. Their 2017 Grand Corte drinks like Bordeaux with a modern twist, as the Malbec gives the wine typical aromas of red and black fruits: cherries, plums and jam while the Syrah adds dark fruit and tannins. Aged 12 months in new French oak, woven together with layers of floral and cedar notes. Rated 92 points by Decanter Magazine and 90 points from James Suckling at the original release price of $50, don't miss this ready to drink Icon wine for $12.99 plus free shipping!
"This well-judged blend is marked by elegant black fruit with lifted spice, while the palate is big but balanced, with well integrated silky tannins. Dense but fresh black fruit is framed by spicy oak with a long finish. Will develop further in bottle." Decanter Magazine, 92 Points
"Old-school style with roasted coffee and ripe dark plums on offer. The palate has a smooth array of fresh, fine and juicy tannins that carry well into the plush, long and tangy finish. The acidity sits out. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 90 Points
