When we think of the top names in Super Tuscans, the "who's who" list includes Antinori's Solaia, Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Argentiera is on the verge of greatness and is like picking up one of these bottles fifteen years ago when they were still under $100! James Suckling in his 99 Point review of the 2015 Vintage (Top 20 of 2018) puts Argentiera with the best of the best in Tuscany. We couldn't agree more and think this is the perfect chance to experience once of the best wines of Italy. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah (like Ornellaia!) with a nose expressing complex cherry, plum, and spice tones on a backbone of leather, black pepper, and almonds. Aged 18 months in barrel then another 12 in the bottle, there is a depth and elegance to Argentiera that you only see in $200+ Italian Super Tuscans.
"What a beauty and what an incredible leap forward to excellence. The Tenuta Argentiera 2019 Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera shows depth and wide shoulders with soft plushness and impeccable fruit. The full-bodied wine is dialed up on all levels from perfumes, intensity, mouthfeel, texture and freshness. This bottle should hold past the 20-year mark." The Wine Advocate, 97 Points
"This is so nicely crafted, with tannins that are fine and integrated, creating such a fine, silky texture. It’s medium-bodied with fantastic length and a long, persistent finish. So drinkable now, but will be even better in two or three years. Try after 2024." James Suckling, 97 Points
