97 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, followed by 96 from Antonio Galloni and 95+ from Jeb Dunnuck, the 2021 vintage of Tensley's Colson Canyon Syrah is one of the best in California! Taking Santa Barbara by storm, it's been 20 years since Joey Tensley started making vineyard designated wines as a side project from his "day job" as winemaker for Beckmen Vineyards. He obtained cult status when Matt Kramer added two of his 2001's to The Wine Spectator's Top Ten list. Rich and deep with decadent notes of chocolate and black fruits, the palate is round and velvety with a long, lingering finish. Look for hints of vanilla from the 20 percent new French oak. Rated 96+ in the last four vintages...If you love big, ripe, full-bodied reds, you must have the latest edition of Tensley's Colson Canyon Syrah!
"The 2021 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard is a perfumed powerhouse! Opaque ruby-purple, it has a concentrated core of cassis with touches of tar, thyme, grilled meats, menthol and bitter chocolate. The full-bodied palate is ripe and concentrated with surprising freshness for its style. It has a pleasantly chalky frame and a very long finish replete with violet perfume. This hedonistic Syrah could use another 5+ years in bottle to unwind and will be long-lived in the cellar." The Wine Advocate, 97 Points
