The influence of Marisol Bueno and Javier Mareque on the founding of the DO Rías-Baixas and Albariño can be traced back to their purchase of Pazo Señorans in 1979. An ancient 16th century country estate, with kiwi orchards and old-vine vineyards. Located in the town of Meis, Pazo Señorans lies in close proximity to the sea on sandy soils created by the natural decomposition of the granitic bedrock below. Early on they recognized the potential of Albariño and were instrumental in the creation of the DO just a decade after they arrived in Meis.Through their work, the region gained international notoriety for producing a wonderful and intriguing white wine called Albariño.
"Very young and faintly reductive. It's austere, sharp and vibrant, and the back label specifies one to three years, which to me is not its drinking window but the time you should wait before pulling the cork... It's quite shy and austere, like sea breeze and spring water. It should develop further complexity with age. This has to be one of the most elegant and ethereal vintages for this wine."
