An Italian producer that needs little introduction, Gianni Masciarelli wines have become the standard-bearer for the Abruzzo region. As soon as you open the bottle, you're hit with explosive aromas of brambleberry, dark-cherry compote and raspberry coulis. The cool-climate vineyards gives the Montepulciano plentiful acidity, while keeping the alcohol in check. Dense, suave and deep, offering rich, concentrated flavors of red cherry and dark plum lifted by a hint of violet. The finish is both luscious and long, and features rising, youthfully peppery, chewy tannins. One of the best everyday values for Italian wines. Don't miss it!
"Clean, mixed brambleberry character with light herb and mineral touches. Medium-bodied with bright fruit, well-integrated and lightly firm tannins and a balanced finish. Always super value for money. Drink now." James Suckling, 91 Points
"Primarily tar and dark berries, the nose of this wine also has crushed stone and herbal aromas that come through at the end. The palate is sour red cherries, blackberries and more stones, as well as a bit of milk chocolate pointed up by chalky, dusty tannins and lots of acid. Best Buy." The Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points
