Prices for Sancerre got you down? It's crazy expensive, so you can believe how excited we are to get our hands on this Pouilly Fume from our favorite Sancerre producer Karine Lauverjat. The Lauverjat family has been growing grapes in the Loire Valley for generations in the tiny village of Sury-en-Vaux. Husband-and-wife team Christian and Karine have 12-hectares of vines in Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume. Sourced from 30+ year old vineyards across the river from Sancerre, Christian and Karine have crafted an open and expressive version of Sauvignon Blanc that keeps the bright aromatics with a playful, fruit forward palate, while maintaining that "fume" smokiness. Take the seriousness of the French, blend it with the modern approach of New Zealand, and you have this amazing Sauvignon Blanc.
"A multi-award winning Pouilly-Fumé made from old vine: average age of the vines is around 30 years. Pale yellow colour, with typical Pouilly-Fumé aromas of flint with a hint of white fruit, exotic and citrus fruits. A wonderfully well balanced, fresh and aromatic wine. Typical aroma of flint with a hint of white fruit. On the palate a pure and strong dry wine, where the individual aromas are expressed. As good as they get." Gilbert & Gaillard, Gold Medal
