Rated 90 Points from James Suckling, the Chateau Hyot 2019 is a terrific everyday Bordeaux from the Aubert family. Right-Bank specialists, the Aubert's own five major properties and over six hundred acres of vines, which makes them one of the largest wine holders in Bordeaux. Amélie Aubert is the seventh generation of her family to take the reins, and she's made several of our favorites like the Chateau de Ribebon and Chateau Saint Antonie! The 2019 is a Merlot based blend, sourced from 40 year-old vines, with Cabernet Franc bringing sophisticated aromas and silky tannins, and a dose of Cabernet Sauvignon for a structural backbone. Oak-aged for 20 months, this wine is all about elegance and balance. Once again Chateau Hyot utilizes the services of Michel Rolland (Harlan, Dalla Valle, Ausone, la Violette) to give this Bordeaux his signature punch.
"Mulberries, dark plums, dried herbs, burdock and cigar box on the nose. Medium body with powdery tannins. Fruity, with fresh acidity and a flavorful, earthy finish. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 90 Points
"From the slopes just west of Castillon, this is a ripe Merlot-dominated wine. A core of tannins and juicy acidity have combined into a savory wine that will be ready from 2023." The Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points
