Fans of Sonoma Cabernet know that Chalk Hill is one of the best places in California to grow world class wines.

Occupying the northeast corner of the larger Russian River AVA, Chalk Hill is named for its unique, volcanically-derived, chalky white ash soils. Our Block 518 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is grown at higher elevations on the western part of Chalk Hill, imparting dense aromas of dark chocolate with beautiful blackberry and cassis notes on the palate. You could pay $50 or more for the same wine in a different bottle!

Rating
"Rich, dense and complex, this Cabernet keeps unfolding with every sip. This stunning wine has an expressive mix of plum, currant, licorice, wild berry and black cherry flavors that are woven together nicely followed by a seamless, smooth, persistent finish." The Wine Buyer, 94 Points

Wine maker notes
Soil, climate and elevation separate the Chalk Hill AVA from other parts of Sonoma's Russian River Valley. From its advantageous hillsides, our Block Estate vineyards are known for their soils of clay underlain with fractured shale and sandstone. The unique soil composition, coupled with warmer than average climates yields a Cabernet Sauvignon of exceptional character.
