First released in 2007, the T.H. Series (short for Terroir Hunter) was Rafael's concept for developing wines that express the unique regions and vineyards of Chile. In a country that stretches 5,000 kilometers with abrupt topography ranging from sea level to mountains as high as 6,000 meters, Chile has potentially many more wine production areas than those that have historically been cultivated.

Rafael chose a 50 year old vineyard site in the Loncomilla Valley, which is about as far south as Carignan is produced. Young winemakers are trying to make it a "signature" wine for Chile, taking the varietal made famous by the dense, powerful wines of Priorat and making it their own. Rafael and his team have done an outstanding job with old vines Carignan, with Parker and Tanzer saying T.H. is the most acclaimed new wine project in all of Chile!

Rating
"The 2011 T.H. Carignan is produced with fruit fromMaule, from a dry-farmed, 50-year-old vineyard in Loncomilla and has a sweetish nose with creamy hints from the oak and notes of plums, violets and tree bark. It has pungent acidity, great freshness and a medium-bodied palate, ending almost salty, really umami-driven...This is a superb Carignan that should age for a long time. Drink now-2019." The Wine Advocate, 92 Points

Wine maker notes
A back to back Winery of the Year award winner from Wine & Spirits Magazine, the wines from Bodegas Undurraga are some of the most sought after in all of Chile. T.H. is an innovative project, as after more than a century of producing wine, Chile is reinventing its viticulture, taking more risks, getting off the beaten track and emphasizing its diversity of climate, soil and topography. A long-term project which transcends traditional boundaries in its search for unusual origins and outstanding results, the focus is on the ongoing exploration of micro climates and specialized vineyard sites.
