Free Mix & Match Case Shipping!

The epicenter of value wines in 2015 is once again Portugal, with more "Best Buy" distinctions than France, Spain, South America and even the United States. For the price, these wines rarely disappoint. The Reserva Do Monte Tinto 2012 is made by Casa Santos Lima, ranked #1 by Wine Spectator for "Wineries for Value" from Portugal in 2012.

One of Portugal's most famous winemakers Jose Neiva Correia consults on this Reserva, using native varietals of Castelao, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Trinccadeira. It's a wine of power and intensity, framed by firm tannins and excellent structure. The Reserva Do Monte Tinto 2012 is indeed one of Portugal's best values!

Rating
"This structured and dense wine hails from the steep, sloping hills of the Lisboa region. While aged in Portuguese oak, which provides spice and dark tannins, the delicious black fruit core is not overpowered. Drink now–2016." The Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points (Best Buy!)

Wine maker notes
Casa Santos Lima is a 4th generation family business, founded by Joaquim Santos Lima who by the turn of 19th century was among the greatest producers and exporters of Portuguese wines. Located some 40 km north of Lisbon near the town of Torres Vedras, it's a big operation as the estate covers 280 hectares, and more than half of the vines here have been planted since 1990. Overall, the wines are made in a modern extracted style, yet they haven't lost their Portuguese roots. The vineyards produce high quality grapes, and the wines have a unique regional character well known outside of Portugal.
