The latest edition of the La Bota de Pedro Ximenez series from Equipo Navazos has just arrived at The Wine Buyer, complete with a 98 Point Rating from Neil Martin at the Wine Advocate. Sourced from the oldest solera of pedro ximénez at Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla, the Lots 36 boasts a clear jerezano style, markedly oxidative, although with the lowest alcohol content legally accepted. Such a moderate percentage of alcohol (15.5%) helps maintaining the candied fruit notes coming from the casks that are more than thirty years of average age. Fans of sherry, port and dessert wines do not want to miss the marvel of PX!

Rating
"The Lot 36 La Bota de Pedro Ximenez comes from theold Solera of sweet PX from Bodegas Fernando de Castilla that probably averages around 30-years in age and has pronounced oxidation and low alcohol. The selection for this bottling demonstrated the most depth and definition. Dark brown in color, this oozes out of the bottle. It has wonderful definition on the nose with marmalade, molasses and just a very faint adhesive scent. The palate is unctuous on the entry but extraordinarily well-balanced as the acidity slices through the thickly layered treacle infused with molasses, cloves and a pinch of white pepper. Long and sensual, this is an intense PX that threatens to overwhelm the senses and yet it is so perfectly balanced and harmonious that you just fall into its arms. This PX can be summed up in three letters. WOW." The Wine Advocate, 98 Points

Wine maker notes
The story of Equipo Navazos is the story of a passion shared by an ample group of lovers and connoisseurs of traditional Andalusian wines. Aware of the sleeping treasures that rested buried in the cellars of Jerez, Sanlúcar and El Puerto, as well as in and around Montilla, they decided to rescue some of these jewels. In 2005 they started to select specific butts of special finesse and complexity and to bottle them in very limited series. At the beginning the company existed only for the private enjoyment of the founders and that of friends from Spain, Germany, the UK and the U.S., mostly people from the wine world: oenologists, wine writers, distributors, sommeliers, as well as deeply knowledgeable aficionados. One of those people is importer Eric Soloman, and because of our connections we are able to get our hands on a limited number of bottles.
