While there are currently wines crafted in every corner of the world, the great white wines from Germany are in a word, unique. One of the most picturesque wine landscapes in Europe, the vineyards of the Mosel cling to the hillsides of the winding river below. The dramatic sloping vineyards protect the vines from extreme weather, while the famous slate soils impart incredible minerality to the wines. In fact, this "stoney" quality is so important to the wines, that when the rain washes the slate down the hill, the vineyard workers must carry the soil back up the perilous slopes to replenish the vineyards. Talk about commitment!

Rating
"The wine is beautifully structured, crisp and fresh, showing all the components of a classic Riesling. The nose of fresh apple is followed by flavors of gooseberry, white peach, melon and a wonderful minerality expressing the true personality of the region. The fresh acidity keeps the flavors bright and lively. This is a great food wine, pairing with everything from salads to all types of seafood." The Wine Buyer, 91 Points

Wine maker notes
The estate of Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler is recognized as a premier producer of beautifully crafted wines, each expressing the terroir of the region. Recently their wines have caught the eye of critics and have been receiving high praise. They produce wines in a wide range of prices and under a few different labels. Noble House is the introductory level of wines, offering good value for the money. The Dr. Karl Christoffel line is the next step up and can be found exclusively at The Wine Buyer and our Bottle King stores.
