A founder of the Barolo category, Marchesi di Barolo remains a family estate representing the great wine traditions of Piedmont, controlling 430 acres of UNESCO World Heritage vineyards, including holdings in the exclusive Barolo crus of Cannubi, Sarmassa and Coste di Rose. Most of the grapes for Gavi’s production come from Rovereto di Gavi, which is considered the best part of the entire production zone. The vines are grown with Guyot (VSP trellised) system on hills with moderate inclines and in terrains that are made up of mostly silty and sandy soil.
