Sbragia's Home Ranch Vineyard, which the family has been farming for decades, is located on the East side of Dry Creek in Sonoma County, California. The eight-acre Merlot vineyard sits on the flatland of Dry Creek Valley, an area that had a propensity to flood before the Dry Creek Dam was built. As a result, the soil features rocky clay loom components, which contribute to great drainage in the vineyard.
Winemaker Ed Sbragia makes his red wines the way his Dad taught him; keep the barrels clean and topped, and the wine will take care of itself. The 2006 Home Ranch Merlot bursts with bright black cherry, chocolate and brown spice aromas and offers a fruit forward palate of black fruit and mocha with subtle pepper, brown sugar and toasty characters. Velvety tannins make this wine very food friendly and a long, soft finish makes you want to go back for another sip.

| "One of the best made California Merlots I have tasted in several years. Lots of berry fruit intermixed with chocolate and a hint of toasty oak. The finish lasts longer then California Merlots at double this retail!"-Wine Buyer 94 Points |
