On his 91st birthday, American wine pioneer Hubert Opici reminisced about his early days in California winemaking. He realized his fondest memory was of an Old Vine Zinfandel vineyard, planted in 1891, that always produced magical wines. In his mind Zinfandel, an indigenous American varietal, epitomizes the spirit of great winemaking. Acclaimed winemaker Richard Bruno of Vinum Cellars has agreed to partner with the Opici family. Each year he will source the best Old Vine Zinfandel in order to produce an exceptional wine that exemplifies the Opici family's reputation of delivering quality wines and exceptional value.

In any given vintage, the Opici family, in conjunction with acclaimed winemaker Richard Bruno of Vinum Cellars, finds the best Old Vine Zinfandel in California. The grapes may come from Dry Creek, Sierra Foothills, Lodi, or Paso Robles but the results will always be the same.

Tasting notes
This old vine Zinfandel opens with black pepper notes on the nose. They are immediately followed by cherry vanilla aromas and a hint of maple. Medium in body and extremely well-balanced, it is packed with concentrated dried cherry, raspberry, and cola flavors and a boysenberry, clove, and orange-peel finish.

Technical notes
Alcohol: 14%

Food pairing
This is a very adaptable, food-friendly wine; enjoy it with grilled meats: from burgers to steaks, hearty pastas, and richly flavored chicken dishes.
