Free Mix & Match Case Shipping!

2010 was a historic vintage for Bordeaux, and we're down to our last 50 cases of the Laffitte Carcasset Saint-Estephe. An amazing value for $22.98 a bottle!

Situated at the northern end of the Haut-Medoc region on the gravelly western shores of the Gironde, Saint-Estephe is separated from its famous neighbor, Pauillac, only by a stream, yet there are significant differences between them. Known for their rich color, deep flavor and longevity, the wines of Saint-Estephe tend to be more forward with ripe levels of tannin and higher acidity. If you've ever had the second growth Chateau Cos d'Estournel or Chateau Montrose, third-growth Chateau Calon-Segur or fourth-growth Chateau Lafon-Rochet, you've had some of the best in Saint-Estephe.

Rating
"There is no mistaking the firm tannins of Saint-Estèphe in this wine. At the same time, these tannins are balanced with the generous ripe flavor of black fruit and almost-sweet acidity. The property was created by Joseph Laffitte in 1759, right in the center of the Saint-Estèphe plateau." The Wine Enthusiast, 92 Points

Wine maker notes
Chateau Laffitte Carcasset was founded in the 18th Century by Joseph Laffitte, the legal counsel for the King of France. The estate is classified as Cru Bourgeois, a special designation that recognizes the top Chateau's that were not included in the original 1855 Classification. They represent some of the best wines outside of the grand cru classe. Wines such as Lilian Ladouys, Ormes de Pez, and Haut Marbuzet are all Saint-Estephe wines categorized as Cru Bourgeois, and represent some of the best values in Bordeaux!

Technical notes
Alcohol: 13.5%

Surprisingly good wine. Excellent tannins, nice spice, very good balance, especially after thorough aeration. Nose and taste are somewhat similar to 2011 Silver Oak winery "Napa Valley" Cabernet Sauvignon, but for less than quarter of the price. Not as rich as the Silver Oak, though. Great value!
