Chateau Pesquie Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee des Terrasses
2008

High in the foothills of Mount Ventoux, in the Thone Valley, Chateau Pesquie is situated at what is considered to be the top of the Cotes du Ventoux appellation. This area is located in the southern Rhone east of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyards, which lie within the villages of Mormoiron, Villes-sur-Auzon, and Blauvac, are between 750 and 1100 feet in elevation and lie on terraced slopes. This elevation allows for cool nightime temperatures which provide ideal ripening conditions. Numerous Rhone varietals are grown here but this wine is 30% Syrah and 70% Grenache. The vines are up to 100 years old. No herbicides are employed in the vineyards and the grapes are hand picked.
| Tasting notes |
Color: dark red color.
Nose: intense nose with notes of black berries and spicy aromas like pepper.
Mouth: This medium to full-bodied wine is still yet very fresh and elegant and allies unctuous tannins to flavors or red and black berries with a touch
spice. |
| Technical notes |
The grapes are crushed and destemmed. We obtain optimal color and aroma after a fifteen days maceration. Traditional wine-making is followed by a
long rest. Then the wine is naturally clarified through a series of decantings at select times. 35 % of this vintage is aged in oak barrels (2 to 4 years old) or in oak tanks for about one year. Bottled at the Château.
Alcohol: 13.5% |
| Food pairing |
| Very easy to match. With simples dishes such as pizzas, kebabs, charcuterie, vegetable pies or salads to more ambitious cuisine like terrines, poultry (guineafowl, turkey...), roasted or grilled meats. |

Review: Tried a couple of bottles this past weekend. Excellent choice! One of the best value / price ratios of any wine I've had! Smooth, light, easy to drink with hors d' oeuvres or meat meals. Great selection. I'm ordering a case. |
