For six straight vintages, the La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino has been a customer favorite. Huge aromatics with deep, intense flavors are the hallmarks of this small, organic estate located on the southeastern side of Tuscany.

Rating
"A firm, silky red with structure and depth for thevintage. Full and racy with freshness and depth. Long and muscular. Better in 2017." James Suckling, 92 Points

"La Rasina's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the more beautiful wines of the vintage. Succulent dark cherry, plum, mocha and smoke are some of the many notes that flesh out in this extroverted, sumptuous Brunello. The natural richness of the vintage is evident, yet all the elements are in the right place, especially the balance between fruit and oak. The 2011 is built to deliver considerable near term pleasure, which it does. I don't expect the wine will be especially ageworthy, but it is super expressive today, and a real pleasure to taste." Antonio Galloni, 91 Points

"La Rasina's house style will appeal to those who enjoy big-boned Brunello. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a brooding, dark and masculine expression. The wine reveals dark concentration and good extraction followed by beautiful intensity of aromas. The nose opens to dried cherry, spice, leather and moist chewing tobacco. The aromas very much reflect the heat of the vintage, yet they are integrated, and ultimately they do reach harmony. The wine shows power and determination. It awards the palate with lasting flavors of dark fruit and spice." The Wine Advocate, 91 Points

Wine maker notes
La Rasina is located on the southeastern "morning side" slope of Montalcino in the Brunello DOCG area. Rolling hills with roses climbing over the old walls of the main house create an atmosphere of loving attention in this small family run property. Separate buildings on the estate have been restored for Agra-tourism. There are fewer and fewer of them, but this estate is still a true Montalcino born, family run estate.
