Weingut Fritz Windisch Heimersheimer Rotenfels Dornfelder 2015 750ML
Sku: 37733

Germany has a long and illustrious history of winemaking, a fact that is often overlooked due to a period of decidedly lesser glory during the 1970s and 1980s. The Romans first established vineyards around Trier on the Mosel river, and by the third century AD plantings had spread to the Mosel and its tributaries. During the Middle Ages the Christian church, particularly the Cistercian and Benedictine monasteries, was very influential in the development of wine growing and in the production of quality wine in Germany. Some of the most famous names in German wine today, such as Schloss Johannisberg and Kloster Eberbach, were established as monasteries and producing wines nearly 900 years ago.

Tasting notes
A great sweet red grape variety, magenta in color with soft tannins and excellent structure.

If you like a sweet but not too sweet red wine, this wine is for you. Awesome sipping wine by the fire on a beautiful summer night!! I have had Dornfelder in the past and have been searching for it everywhere. I have finally found it again and couldn't be happier!!

I always associated red wine as dry & bitter until recently. A friend introduced me to DORNFELDER and I must admit..... I'm in love with it. It's very smooth and easy to drink. If you tried it you will see what I mean!

I never liked the wine until I had this. It was always to dry or bitter. Great for the wine lover and those don't drink wine. Fantastic!

This wine tastes like the essence of red grape. Full, deep sweet and with a wonderful aroma. Except for the wine snobs who are convinced that bitter, "dry" and alum define a good wine, everyone who has tried it at our home has loved it.

I adore it... I've compared this to other 'dornfelders' and by far the Weingut Fritz is the best! I don't like dry wine, and the sweet wines are always too sweet. This one is perfect - it's smooth and very soft to the palate.

This is one of the best wines I have ever tasted. I am really not a wine drinker but this grape is smooth. It is excellent. I plan to order more. Excellent wine choice. The sweetness is just right. I don't like dry wine at all. Thanks for carrying this wine.

Excellent sweet red wine and not too sweet.

Review:
A very smooth red wine that is somewhat sweet , has a cork and does not have a silly cartoon lable. You can't find that anymore. I just wish it was a little stronger in alcohol than 8 percent. I love this wine, and I will be ordering more in the near future. Great with a meal or friends and family get together. I hope they never run out.

Back when you were young & imagined what wine might taste like this is it. It's sweet, yes, but not like Moscato. It has just enough of that tartness to it to let you know it is in fact wine. I could drink this with every type of meal and as a dessert wine.
