Free Mix and Match Case Shipping Dona Paula Estate wines are born in their high altitude vineyards, located in the foothills of the Andes mountains above Mendoza. The finest quality grapes from these low yielding estate vineyards at more than 3300 feet in elevation, combined with the passion, dedication to quality and creativity of our winemakers produce unique wines of great depth with elegant and complex aromas and unmistakable varietal purity.
The Shiraz comes from a mass selection of old vines from San Juan, and it was planted in 1998 in own rootstock in the poorest rocky and clay soils in their Finca El Alto Estate in Ugarteche. The vine spacing is 2.2 meters by 1.5 meters, with vertical trellising and double spur pruning cordon. Its natural high crop is controlled by green harvesting during veraison, leaving
in the vine 1 to 3 bunches per spur. Clay soils produce good structure in our wines and that is exactly what they look for this Shiraz-Malbec blend. At Doņa Paula their vineyards and wines have always been managed using Sustainable Agriculture practices.
| Tasting notes |
| The Doņa Paula Estate Shiraz-Malbec 2008 presents aviolet-blue color. On the nose it shows the particular plum character that comes from the Malbec and impressive spice notes, white pepper and red fruits from the Shiraz. It is sweet and has a pleasant mouth feel with fresh fruit acidity. |
