France’s first rosé AOC, Tavel is the Rhone’s powerhouse rose-only appellation, with vineyards spread along the right bank of the Rhone river, not far from Avignon. With a bigger body than your typical wine from Provence, the Chateau d'Aqueria showcases notes of strawberry cream with a mineral influenced watermelon palate. A blend of mostly Grenache, with Clairette, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre, the charming 2021 is the standard-bearer of the region. Voted #29 of the Top 100 Wines by Wine Enthusiast (2018 Vintage), Chateau d'Aqueria is very food friendly, pairing well with anything from shellfish, to pasta, even pizza. A Rose made for the red wine drinkers, Tavel was a favorite of Ernest Hemingway!
"Quite a serious, savoury nose, showing black cherry and garrigue herbs. Full-bodied, with real depth and power. Acidity and alcohol are well balanced and it has a slightly chalky texture. An authentic Tavel, made in a traditional rather than natural style. Estate now owned by Guigal." Decanter Magazine, 93 Points
"Opulent and juicy, this full-bodied Tavel highlights the fleshy red plum and cherry flavors of Grenache against the peppery, herbal spice of Syrah and a flash of citrusy Clairette. Deep, dusky pink in color, it's a concentrated, thirst-quenching rose." The Wine Enthusiast, 93 Points
