Are you a fan of big, concentrated and structured red wines and want to try something new?

The Wine Buyer's got a wine for you that tips the scales at a whopping 15% alcohol, the Domaine du Gros Nore Bandol 2011. Rated 94 points in The Wine Advocate, this is a classic blend of Mourvedre, Grenache, and Cinsault sourced from an area that is widely regarded as the grand cru of Provence.

Created in 1941, Bandol is the "home of Mourvedre," a late-ripening, heat-loving varietal that produces these monster wines. This top wine of the vintage shows beautiful purity of fruit and fine tannins, and bucks the general trend of Bandol as being quite approachable at a younger age. Fans of full throttle, big score Cabernet's should give this beauty a try.

Rating
"Both of the reds are brilliant and most likely thewines of the vintage, the 2011 Bandol comes from 30-year-old vines and is a blend of 80% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache and 5% Cinsault. Aged 18 months in foudre, itís a dense, concentrated 2011 that offers notions of black cherry, blackberry, earth and ground herbs on the nose. This flows to a full-bodied, gorgeously put together palate that has considerable structure, superb purity of fruit and a knockout finish. Give it another 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy it over the following 15 years or more." The Wine Advocate, 94 Points

Wine maker notes
The Domaine du Gros Nore was created in 1997 by brothers Alain and Guy Pascalin. For years, their father sold his prized fruit from Bandol to Domaine Ott and Chateau de Pibarnon and while the Pascalin's would bottle their own wine for family consumption, they never labeled it under their own domaine. In 1997 after his fatherís death, Alain officially started Domaine du Gros Nore, a real shift that has brought him more than just casual notice. Alain is already a leading contender in Bandol, the appellation regarded as the grand cru of Provence.
