The Grand Estates wines are created with an artisan winemaking approach. The wine and the yeast lees inside each barrel of our Chardonnay is hand stirred once a week during several months of the aging process. This labor intensive winemaking process of inserting a "baton" and stirring every barrel is know as "batonnage". This creates a unique richness and creaminess that has become the signature of this Chardonnay and a benchmark for Washington quality. - Ray Einberger, Winemaker
