Chimney Rock Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 750ML
Sku: 20342

Founded in 1980, the Chimney Rock winery was designed to produce artisan wines of "first-growth" structure, style and taste. All of Chimney Rock's red wines are estate grown on a 75-acre parcel situated at the southern end of the Stags Leap District, a geographically unique pocket of land one mile wide and just three miles long.

Chimney Rock's winemaker, Doug Fletcher, maximizes the potential of this exceptional appellation with the rigorous "Balanced Vine" approach to vineyard management. Combined with the "Fletcher Lyre" trellising system, pioneered at Chimney Rock, the benefit is longer ripening which results in small, intensely flavored berries with deeper skin pigments and richer, riper flavors. Mature fruit at the ideal Brix, nurtured throughout the winemaking process, yields wines of great finesse with fine-grained tannins and impressive structure - some of the most elegant Cabernet Sauvignon produced on American soil.

Tasting notes
Deep and dense red velvet color. Bright red plum and blackberry aromas are interlaced with vanilla and hints of cocoa and clove. A voluptuous burst of fruit at the front palate followed by an enveloping mid palate with an ensuing bright delicate finish.

Rating
"Combines firm, ripe, rich and extracted flavors ofcurrant, cedar, blackberry and mineral with a sense of suppleness. The flavors build on the palate, ending with hints of mint, herb, cedar and espresso. Best from 2012 through 2022. 476 cases made. " Wine Spectator, 92 Points

"Chimney Rock’s 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is a very pleasing, up-front wine graced with expressive varietal fruit, relatively soft tannin and an accessible personality. All of the elements are very nicely balanced in this mid-weight offering. An understated finish rounds things out in style. This is an excellent choice for restaurants or any occasion that requires a bottle to be served without much fuss. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2018." Wine Advocate, 91 Points

"Marked by hefty tannins, this Cabernet is a little to astringent to drink now. With blackberry, currant and mineral flavors, it should develop for a while, but it could go down quickly, so it's a gamble." Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points
