A darling of the Wine Advocate and Rhone Report, Chateau Puech Haut has been on the critic's radar for the past 10 years. In fact, both publications have rated this cuvee 91 points or higher, the past 6 out of 7 vintages. Robert Parker himself says "with Bru's top Reserve wine selling for nearly $100 a bottle, the Prestige cuvee is an outstanding value." We've offered half a dozen wines from Puech Haut over the past three years, and for the price, this is hands down our favorite.

Rating
"The 2013 Coteaux du Languedoc Prestige (which was already in bottle at the time of this tasting) is a blend of 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah aged all in concrete tank. Fresh, elegant and thrillingly pure, with first rate aromas of blackberry, fresh plum, licorice and ground herbs, it is decidedly sexy and forward, yet stays perfectly balanced, with juicy acidity and fine tannin on the finish. Enjoy this superb value over the coming 4-5 years (although it will evolve longer)." The Wine Advocate, 93 Points

Wine maker notes
Another outstanding find by wine importer Eric Solomon, the Chateau Puech Haut was formed in 2000 by Gerard Bru in the foothills of the Cevennes. There wasn't a single vine in the soil until Bru planted one but he was convinced that the terroir, covered in olive trees and wild herbs, would be conducive to spectacular wines. Today, Chateau Puech-Haut occupies 170 hectares including 100 hectares of vines in Saint-Drezery, a small village 15 km northeast of Montpellier which belongs to the AOC Coteaux du Langedoc. While relatively young in nature, Chaeteau Puech Haut has been on the critic's radar for some time as the property has employed Michel Rolland, Claude Gros and now Philippe Cambie as their consulting enologist.

Review:
Drank a glass from the bottle and it just wasn't opening up. Decanted for an hour and wow, this wine has a lot going on. The finish is remarkable at this price point. Passing a couple of bottles to two of my close friends.

Review:
I could drink this wine every night. QPR (Quality/price ratio) is off the chart. Very enjoyable, excellent red Rhone blend.
